CCTV Animated Logo - Production Sketches

Someone once likened After Effects to animation software with layers, much like Photoshop. What I pictured from that was a program like Photoshop with animation tools that were more intuitive that Photoshop's, something like a marriage between Flash's animation interface, and Photoshop's raster graphics. What I got was something completely different. After Effects CS5.5 seemed like it was intended for motion graphics rather than animation, or at least not the kind of animation I planned on doing.

So for my first major project using the software, I'll be doing something relatively simple. While the 3D tools aren't as intuitive (at least to me) as I'd originally hoped, I'll be animating simple page turns of a fantasy style book. The actual book will probably only have (or at least show) 2 pages after the cover is opened. This is because the animation is limited to 10 seconds, and I want to pan around on the pages in that time to help put the spotlight on details such as the illustrations.

And here's the mockup of the animation...
